WRITE NOW COLUMBUS – JULY 2019
Hi, Writers:
By now you’ve noticed a few changes in these emails.
1. The Name.
I’ve never been happy with the name “Write Now Newsletter.” “Write Now Columbus” is slightly more accurate, although I include events from adjoining counties as well as those in Columbus proper. But “Write Now central Ohio” seemed too long.
2. The Format
There is simply no easy and elegant way to include the entire list of writing events in the email. I’ve been hard coding that list for more than a decade and I no longer have time to do that. Plus, my new website creates a lovely calendar which can be convereted into a list with one click, if you prefer. To date (it’s been a few months) I’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback on including just the link. As a bonus, fewer emails are bouncing.
3. Introducing Nita’s News
My research on effective author email processes confirms what I’ve thought (feared?) for a while. I need a second email list for my readers, separate from Write Now Columbus.
Allow me to introduce “Nita’s News,” a reader’s email I will send only when I have something to share about my writing, running, blogging, meditation, dogs, etc. It may not interest some subscribers of Write Now Columbus. Likewise, Write Now Columbus might not interest some of my readers.
Don’t worry, I will continue to send Write Now Columbus on the regular schedule (hopefully like clockwork), the 3rd of each month.
