In this in-person workshop poets will look at each other’s works-in-progress and the work of established poets, with an emphasis on the role that syntactical patterns play in determining the emotional effect of the poem as well as looking at its practical use as a rhetorical engine in the development of the poem itself.
About the Poet
David Sanders is the author of two poetry collections, Compass and Clock and Bread of the Moment. For twenty years he was the general editor of the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize, and he was the founding editor of Poetry News in Review. Originally from Hiram, Ohio, Sanders received his BFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green and his MFA from the University of Arkansas. His poetry has appeared in numerous journals including The Hudson Review, The Southern Review, The New Criterion, and The Boston Review.
Workshop location details
We are excited to partner with the Royal Oak Initiative to hold this year’s quarterly workshops at the Cooperative Chess Cultural Arts Center (80 Parsons Avenue) in the Olde Town East neighborhood near downtown Columbus.
This workshop will be presented in person only. Space is limited to 25 attendees. This event is open to the public.
