A Conversation about Banned Books with Amanda Jones

September 9 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

In her book, That Librarian, Amanda Jones maps out the book-banning crisis occurring across the United States and calls on book lovers everywhere to rise in defense of readers.

In conversation with Columbus Dispatch Opinion and Community Engagement Editor Amelia Robinson, Jones will discuss the true story behind her memoir/manifesto, which started in 2022 after the small-town Louisiana librarian spoke out at a local public hearing about “book content” a.k.a. book banning.

Since that meeting, Jones has faced death threats and attacks, and been called a groomer, pedo and porn-pusher. Her decision to support a collection of books with diverse perspectives made her a target for extremists, but she would not give up without a fight: she sued her harassers for defamation and urged others to join her in the resistance.

Although free to attend, registration is required.
